Built to Last: Durability You Can Depend On
Robust Construction for Extreme Conditions
A hazardous location is a very harsh environment. Typically a hazardous location will fluctuate from very cold to very hot. Some environments will also utilize chemicals to clean, which can attack many different materials. Some areas may also vibrate constantly or may have an extreme amount of dust or moisture present. In these kinds of environments, normal lighting products usually do not last very long, often only a few months to a year or two. OAK LED explosion proof lights are designed to withstand all of these extreme conditions.
Our fixtures feature:
Heavy-duty die-cast aluminum housing. Corrosion resistant. Durable to with stand physical impact.
Tempered glass or polycarbonate lenses.
Sealed enclosures are sealed to prevent the ingress of dust and water, rated IP66/IP67.
Features an advanced thermal management system to ensure the LED components are kept cool in extreme temperatures.
Stainless steel used in fixtures parts, that won’t rust or corrode.
OAK LED explosion proof lights are very durable and will last for years in any kind of harsh environment.
Extended Lifespan, Reduced Maintenance
OAK LED explosion proof lights provide extended lifespan of lighting in hazardous locations and minimize amount of necessary maintenance. This is because traditional lighting solutions in such locations require frequent replacements of bulbs as well as ongoing maintenance, which in itself can pose safety risks to safety and also result in downtime as personnel would have to travel to location in order to perform required repairs and/or replacements.
Due to the long lifetime of OAK LED explosion proof lights (more than 10 years) there is no need for expensive and dangerous maintenance in hazardous areas. As a result there is no downtime for replacement of failed lighting. This results in a lower total cost of ownership.
Fewer dangerous maintenance operations in hazardous zones
Reduced downtime for lighting replacements
Lower total cost of ownership
Consistent illumination levels throughout the fixture's life
Less waste heading to landfills
Comprehensive Certifications: Safety You Can Trust

FAQ
What are Class I and Class II hazardous locations and what are the differences?
What is the difference between Class I and Class II locations? Class I locations are areas where flammable gases, vapors or liquids are present in any quantity in a form that is capable of forming an explosive or ignitable mixture. These areas could include petroleum refineries, gasoline service stations and terminals, natural gas wells and producing areas, underground storage tanks containing gasoline or other Class I liquids, plants and areas where chemicals and drugs are manufactured, processed or used, etc. Class II locations are areas that contain combustible dust that could become air suspended and form an explosive mixture. These types of locations could be a grain elevator, flour mill, coal processing plant, or a plant that manufactures metal powder and other similar type materials. Both Class I and Class II locations are further broken down into two divisions. Division 1 locations are where hazardous atmosphere could exist under normal operation and abnormal operation. Division 2 locations are where hazardous atmosphere could exist only under abnormal operation. OAK LED explosion proof lights are approved for use in Class
Dusts in the air of Class II locations have the potential to explode. Typical Class II locations are grain receiving, storage and handling facilities; flour mills; coal, lignite and coke handling and processing plants and facilities that manufacture metal powders. All of these locations can be divided into two divisions: Division 1 locations where hazardous atmospheric conditions are present under normal operation and abnormal operation. Division 2 locations where hazardous atmospheric conditions may be present during occasional abnormal operation. OAK LED Explosion Proof Lighting is certified for use in all Class II locations – Division 1 and 2.
A Class I location is defined as an area where flammable gases, vapors or liquids in quantity are present. Examples of Class I locations are petroleum refineries, gasoline storage facilities, chemical processing locations where flammable liquids are used, etc. A Class II location is an area where there is a potential for an explosive or ignitable dust to be present in the air at some time. Examples of locations classified as Class II are grain elevators, flour mills, coal breaker plants, metal powder manufacturing facilities, etc. Class I and Class II locations are further defined by Division 1 and Division 2 locations. A Division 1 location is an area in which an ignitable or explosive atmosphere exists regularly (abnormal conditions excluded). A Division 2 location is an area in which an ignitable or explosive or hazardous atmosphere may exist from time to time but is not normally present (abnormal conditions not withstanding).
How long does OAK LED’s explosion proof lighting last?
OAK LED explosion proof lights are built to last long – typical LED life time of 50,000 to 100,000 hours. This equals to 11-22 years of operation under normal 12 hours per day. In comparison traditional HID lights (e.g. explosion proof metal halide or high pressure sodium vapor) have typical life time of 10,000 to 20,000 hours (10-20 years) under normal 12 hours per day operation.
This extended lifespan reduces the frequency of maintenance, necessary to keep an industrial facility operational, within potentially hazardous areas, thus saving significant costs.
Can explosion proof lights be used in wet or corrosive environments?
Yes. OAK LED explosion proof lights are designed to withstand wet or corrosive environments? We have fixtures that are designed to be used in environments with high salt air content (offshore oil platforms) or in environments where there are lots of chemicals that could spill on lights
OAK LED explosion proof lights are designed for harsh environments including wet and corrosive atmospheres. Our explosion proof fixtures are made with materials that are intended to provide long life in harsh industrial environments. We use a marine-grade aluminum alloy housing and stainless steel hardware.
