LED waterproof protection level
The protection level of LED waterproof power supply is referred to as IP (International Protection). It is a proper term drafted by IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) for classifying the characteristics of dustproof, foreign body intrusion, waterproof and moisture-proof. The IP** we usually see on lamps and power supplies is what we call protection levels, such as IP45, IP65, IP68.
IP protection level consists of two numbers
1. The first number indicates the degree of protection against dust and foreign matter from entering the product;
2. The second number indicates the degree of product intrusion into moisture and water. The larger the number, the higher the protection level.
The meaning of the first number:
0 means no protection, no special protection for people or things outside.
1 means to prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 50mm and prevent the human body (such as the palm) from accidentally touching the internal parts. Prevent foreign objects of larger size (diameter greater than 50mm) from invading.
2 means to prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 12mm, and prevent the contact of human fingers with internal parts. Prevent medium-sized foreign objects from entering (diameter exceeding 12 mm and length exceeding 80 mm).
3 means to prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 2.5mm, and to prevent contact with tool wires or similar small foreign objects with a diameter or thickness greater than 2.5mm.
4 refers to preventing solid objects larger than 1.0mm from entering, and preventing tools, wires or similar small foreign objects with diameter or thickness greater than 1.0mm from entering internal parts.
5, means dust-proof, completely prevents foreign matter from entering. Although it cannot completely prevent the intrusion of dust, the amount of intrusive dust will not affect the normal operation.
6, dust-proof performance completely prevents foreign matter from entering, completely prevents dust from intruding
The meaning of the second number:
0 means no protection, no special protection for people or things outside.
1 means to prevent the intrusion of dripping water, and the water droplets dripping vertically (such as condensed water) will not have harmful effects.
2 means that when the inclination is 15°, dripping intrusion can be prevented. When the product is tilted vertically to 15°, dripping water will not have a harmful effect on the lamp.
3 means to prevent water spray, rain or water spray from entering the product in a direction perpendicular to the angle less than 60° and causing damage.
4 means to prevent the intrusion of splash water, splash water in all directions, and damage.
5 means to prevent the injected water from intruding, and to prevent the water sprayed from the nozzle in all directions from entering the product and causing damage.
6 means to prevent the intrusion of products installed on the deck to prevent the damage caused by floods caused by large waves.
7 means to prevent water intrusion when immersed in water. Immerse the product in the water for a period of time or the water pressure is below a certain standard to ensure that it will not be damaged by water ingress.
8 means to prevent water intrusion when sinking, and in the case of unlimited sinking and water pressure specified in advance, the product will definitely not be damaged by water.
Generally speaking, the LED waterproof power supply generally needs IP65, of course, it depends on the applicable occasions, like the LED street lamp IP65 waterproof level can cope with it, just like the LED lighting of indoor toilets and bathrooms. In this case the LED power supply IP53 can meet demand.
